Introducing Our New Executive Director: Kayla L. Bryant

We are excited to announce that Kayla Bryant will joined the Horizons St. Louis team on Aug. 21 as our first full-time Executive Director!

Horizons Board of Directors hired Kayla after an extensive search for the right person to fill this critical role. Kayla bring a wealth of experience in nonprofit development and programming to Horizons. The primary focus of Kayla’s role as Executive Director will be to help Horizons build on its past fundraising successes, and to extend the network of community partners that provide outstanding educational and enrichment experiences during our summer program. As Kayla steps in as leader of Horizons, we believe that her development experience in the St. Louis region will give her unique insights and contacts in the metropolitan nonprofit community, and help us increase awareness of Horizons’ role as a thought leader in out-of-school programming.

Kayla’s extensive experience with youth programming gives her the foundation to provide leadership and vision as Horizons continues to improve on and expand both our summer program and our year-round offerings for participating students. In addition, her past work with young people and their families will help Horizons create and maintain even stronger connections with the students whom we serve.

Kayla takes over the position from Lakesha Robison, who has served part-time as Horizons’ executive director for the past four years in addition to her full-time work in the office of St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones. Horizons cannot thank Lakesha enough for her leadership. Lakesha saw Horizons through its transition from Sprog; played a significant role in offering summer programming during Covid, despite pandemic-related limitations; and helped establish the outstanding summer educational program that Horizons currently offers. She truly represents Horizon’s commitment to educational equity, and her leadership has given even more Kirkwood kids the opportunity to spend their summer months in a high-quality, enriching program that provides academic support, fun field trips, and exciting hands-on activities. Lakesha has agreed to assist in Kayla’s transition, and she continues to support the Horizons mission.

Please join us in thanking Lakesha for her years of service to Kirkwood kids, and in welcoming Kayla to Horizons!
