Program Staff

At Horizons St. Louis, kids lie at the heart of what we do. Teachers keep that heart beating. Our certified teachers, professional educators, swim instructors and staff bring the success of our program to life. With a student-to-teacher ratio of 5:1, teachers get to know each child deeply: their skills, their strengths, their interests. Our teachers and program managers are highly qualified for the role, with many having advanced degrees in such specialties as reading, math, social work and special education.

Horizons St. Louis also gives weight to diversity and inclusion in its recruitment and hiring practices. We want our staff to mirror the racial and ethnic makeup of the students, so that kids can see themselves in the adults who lead them. Horizons St. Louis is proud to say that nearly half of our teacher staff identify as African-American or Black. Our teachers come from St. Louis County and St. Louis City school districts, as well as students from national and state colleges/universities, who bring a combined 70+ years of teaching experience.
